Adam Brooks trained in General Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Emergency Surgery, Trauma and Critical Care in the UK, USA, Australia and South Africa and joined Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust as a Consultant Surgeon in 2005. His specialist interests are liver surgery, surgical management of hepatobiliary biliary disease and major trauma. He is currently the Director of Surgery at Nottingham University Hospitals and the Director of the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre, one of the largest MTC's in the UK, based at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, UK.
Fellowships in South Africa, Australia and America gave him significant international healthcare knowledge and a depth of surgical experience in his chosen surgical fields of liver surgery and torso trauma.
Adam has gained significant experience in Clinical Leadership and Healthcare Management gaining an MBA from the Univeristy of Nottingham in 2014. He has worked in leadership roles in Acute Trust, Primary Care Trust and Strategic Health Authority level over the last 5 years. At National level he chairs the Major Trauma Clinical Reference Group for NHS England and previously sat on the Department of Health Clincal Advisory Group as well as being part of the Independent Trauma Network Designation Evaluation Panel for Healthcare for London.
Adam has significant surgical education experience. He developed the Specialist Skills Course in Emergency Surgery & Trauma for Surgical Trainees held at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and has taught trauma surgical skills around the world including the USA, Australia, Norway, New Zealand and the UK. Adam has substantial medico-legal experience focussing on clinical negligence in hepatobiliary /gallbladder surgery; the management of severe injuries and torso trauma. He has a special interest in clinical ballistic injury.
